Job Summary:

The Lead Teacher is responsible for creating a nurturing and stimulating environment that supports the social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development of young children. As a key member of the teaching team, the Lead Teacher plans and implements age-appropriate curricula, fosters positive relationships with children and their families, and mentors assistant teachers to ensure a high standard of education and care.

Key Responsibilities

Curriculum Development and Implementation:

Plan, develop, and execute age-appropriate lesson plans aligned with educational standards and preschool philosophy.

Integrate creative, hands-on activities that foster curiosity and promote holistic development.

Monitor and assess children’s progress through observations and documentation.

Classroom Management:

Establish and maintain a positive, safe, and engaging classroom environment.

Encourage positive behaviors and address challenges with constructive strategies.

Ensure the classroom is clean, organized, and well-equipped.

Child Development Support:

Provide individualized attention to support each child’s unique learning style and developmental needs.

Foster the development of social-emotional skills through collaboration, communication, and empathy-building activities.

Family Engagement:

Communicate regularly with families about their child’s progress, activities, and milestones.

Build strong relationships with parents to support a collaborative approach to their child’s education.

Team Leadership:

Mentor and guide assistant teachers, fostering professional growth and teamwork.

Delegate tasks appropriately and ensure compliance with classroom schedules and routines.

Collaborate with staff and administration to uphold preschool policies and standards.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field (or equivalent experience).

State-required certifications and licenses for preschool teachers.

Minimum of 10 years of experience in early childhood education, preferably a part of it in a lead teaching role.

Strong knowledge of child development principles and age-appropriate practices.

Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.

Ability to create a nurturing and inclusive classroom environment.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to lift up to [X] pounds and engage in active play.

Comfortable working at children’s eye level (sitting, kneeling, or bending).
